Remote ATLAS registration

If you wish to work on ATLAS remotely you can already start your registration with the ATLAS secretariat. You will be registered with an external status PART (Remote member participating in an Experiment). This will enable you to obtain a CERN computing account and gain access to ATLAS protected pages and twiki pages.

The Responsible Person (Team Leader or Deputy) must initiate a Pre-registration (PREG) in EDH.

  1. The Responsible person creates the PREG and in the Status field chooses “EXTERNAL PARTICIPANT”. Completes initial information including person’s name, email and gender and submits form.
  2. The PREG is routed to the external member who will receive a link by email. The member includes additional personal data and attaches an ID document (passport preferable).
  3. The document is routed once again to the Responsible person for verification (author flag, status if applicable) who then submits the document.
  4. The ATLAS secretariat receives the PREG and approves. The new member is registered in the CERN and ATLAS databases.
  5. A welcome email is sent to the new member with instructions to activate the computing account.
  6. The mandatory online IT Security course must be taken and passed within 5 days to validate the account as well as the mandatory Data Privacy Basics e-learning course.
